![]() One of the jobs of your planner/coordinator is getting everyone lined up for the processional at rehearsal and then ensuring their correct order on wedding day! A quick tip to remember is that in traditional, Christian weddings {and in life really} ladies are on the left of their escort.* *A little history lesson: back in the day, ladies were to the left of their beau so that guys could easily access swords, guns or whatever they needed for protection using their right hand. Keeping their lady on their left arm, keeps the right arm free to protect themselves. We carry that crazy little tradition on today as proper etiquette for weddings and formal events. So when it's time to head down that aisle, remember, "ladies on the left!" All the ladies in the processional go down to the left of their escort. The bride goes down to the left of her father or whomever is escorting her down the aisle and stands to the left of her groom at the alter. This is also true when it is time to make your seating arrangements for the head table. The bride's place setting should be to the left of the groom's, with the best man seated to her left and the maid-of-honor-seated to the right of the groom. This Tuesday Tip isn't a subject we enjoy talking about - no one does - but it has to be figured out before wedding day or you leave your parents, bridal party, coordinator or all of the above scrambling trying to get your things loaded up and out of your reception venue.
Below is a list of things that are commonly left at the end of the night to take care of {when everyone is exhausted, mind you}. It is a good idea to have a plan for who will take these items with them when the reception is over.
Many of these items aren't part of the setup earlier in the day {food, cakes, flowers, gifts} so no one really thinks about how to get these items home. We strongly suggest compiling a list like the one above and assigning these items to someone - or several people - to take with them. This way, everyone knows what to expect at the end of the night and what their job will be in breaking everything down. {Photo via Studio Uma} Nothing says your sign in book has to be a book! We love the idea of sign-ins that you might actually go back and look at or can be displayed in your home forever...
This lovely little idea allows guests to leave a note of well-wishes for the couple! The newlyweds can then take these notes and put them in an album with wedding photos of the guests next to each one. Or, the cards can be kept in a memory box in their home to pull out and read whenever they like. How sweet is that? Way better than a bunch of names in a book, we think! {Photo found on Style Me Pretty} ![]() Part of hosting a wedding is making your guests comfortable as they come celebrate with you! Many of your guests have traveled near and far to be with you on your wedding day so make sure they are comfortable, know what's going on in your town, and feel welcome. In addition to providing hotel blocks for your guests {which is a must!}, you might go the extra mile and let them know about the town you will be hosting your wedding, attractions they might want to see and any other helpful information to help them enjoy their stay. One of the great things about Aggieland weddings is this town has so much to offer. From touring the beautiful campus of Texas A&M University, to seeing the charming sites of historic Downtown Bryan, your guests will have fun things to do while they visit for your wedding. Check out the Bryan/College Station Visitor's Bureau's website for a calendar of events on your wedding weekend for things to do while guests are here before your wedding begins or the Sunday after. Be sure to include a Visitor Planning Guide in your guests' welcome basket {we LOVE the Texas welcome baskets below!}. Even a few simple links on your wedding website might give guests some ideas of what to check out while they're in town! |
