So, your BFF asks you to be her Maid of Honor {MOH} - you graciously accept, and now you're wondering what that really means! MOH are not just in charge of planning the bachelorette party and holding the bouquet when the bride says “ I DO.” The MOH has many bridal duties that you might not think of.... With the below tips, we're here to help ensure you make Maid of Honor Role!
BEFORE WEDDING DAY: 1. Being the team captain of the bridal party. That means making sure each bridesmaid orders her dress, and keeps everyone updated on dates on upcoming bridal events like bridal showers, bachelorette party, dress fittings, and hair/makeup sessions on wedding day. 2. Help the bride pick the perfect dress! {one of the best jobs of MOH}. 3. Taking any duties off the Bride’s to-do list from picking up invitations, stamping invites, or creating welcome baskets for out-of-town guests are always helpful and much appreciated. 4. Attend all the pre-wedding events from engagement party to rehearsal dinner. 5. Plan the bachelorette party. Make sure you the bride will be comfortable with anything you plan. {another fun job!}. 6. Make sure to keep up with the gifts that she receives before the wedding day and help her with tracking her thank you card list. 7. Writing a speech for reception. {start this way ahead of the wedding date, you will probably start over like 10 times!}. DAY OF THE WEDDING: 1. Make sure all the bridesmaids make it to the salon or wherever they will be getting their hair and makeup done on time {remember, you're team captain!}. The worst feeling is to start the day running late. It might be helpful to tell the bridal party to be there 15 minutes before they actually have to. 2. Decide with the Best Man, whether one person will hold both rings or you will hold the grooms ring and he will hold the brides ring. DON’T LOSE IT! 3. Make sure you are holding tissues or a handkerchief for the bride. {yes, its okay to cry tears of happiness, but we don’t want any pictures with mascara down her face}. 4. Helping the bride bustle her dress for the reception. 5. Giving your MOH speech at the reception. {there are always tears so its better to have something written out}. 6. Making sure the bride enjoys her day and serving as her lady-in-waiting. Her wedding day should be STRESS FREE. Follow these steps and you'll be sure to make an easy A+ and secure a space in the Maid of Honor Role! xo -Sarah! {photos are from a recent ATP wedding and courtesy of Two Pair Photography}
