The months leading up can be extremely stressful, as well as time consuming. It’s 6 months to a year of your life where you will be photographed a zillion times and eat a million slices of cake. Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. With minimal time and appointments, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties to attend, working out and healthy eating tend to be pushed to the side. Sometimes even completely forgotten about until after the wedding. Over the next twelve weeks, I {Kellen} will be attempting an at home workout schedule and healthy eating {on a budget}. I started this plan Monday, July 28. Shedding For the Wedding Wednesday will consist of my progress {I hope} each week, along with thoughts and opinions about the program. I am not getting married; I just hope this might give you {and me} the extra motivation or encouragement to get fit for your future event or just to begin a healthy lifestyle {that’s me!}! In preparation for this blog series, I went to our favorite site, Pinterest, and found this workout program. *Remember* I am not a fitness professional, a doctor, or any other type of food/fitness professional. My only requirements were that it only took about 30 minutes a day {it gets slightly longer the last few weeks} and that it could be done at home with minimal equipment {I suggest shopping at TJ Maxx for gym equipment – SUPER affordable}. {that’s all it takes – it only cost me $30 for all of this equipment from TJ Maxx - water bottle not included} For the healthy eating aspect, I am not going gluten free, or low-carb or any of those other diets. I am simply taking out the processed food and eating in moderation. I will try to keep my grocery bills to about $30 a week {key word try}. The grocery store is my weakness and I somehow end up buying everything I don’t need. I plan on adding as many vegetables and fruits to my diet as possible as well as eating plenty of protein. A few years back, I did the Quick Weight Loss Program and did really well on it {but then I went to college}. It’s a program that allows eating real food and basically jumpstarts your healthy living diet. They had three different plans, so my plan might not be for everyone, but it gives a basic foundation and idea of what you should be eating to sustain a healthy lifestyle.I will not be following their program exactly because they do not allow starchy fruits, such as bananas, or sugary vegetables, such as carrots {both of which I absolutely love}. As much as I love beef, I will attempt to cut that down and mainly eat fish, chicken or turkey. Below, I have listed a basic plan of what I will be eating each day {every Wednesday I will post pictures of the past week’s meals}. · 1 egg or 2 oz. White Cheese {3x per week} {basically white string cheese} · 2 servings of proteins · 4 servings of vegetables · 3 servings of fruits · 3 servings of starches · 1 Fat serving {i.e. tablespoon of butter, mayo, etc.} · 1 orange {this helps with the carb headaches and cravings} · 80 oz. of water I will warn you right now that my meals might not be super creative, but I’m kinda new to this healthy eating lifestyle so maybe cut me a break. ;) For the first three days {Monday, July 28 through Wednesday, July 30}, I will be doing something similar to a cleanse to get the toxins out of my body {this aligns with the Quick Weight Loss Program}. I will be eating unlimited raw dark green veggies {for me, lots and lots of romaine lettuce salads} and unlimited protein with 1-2 oranges a day {depending on my headaches and cravings} and 80 oz. of water each day. I know the water may sound like a lot, but trust me, after a few days, you will be loving drinking that much water. It’s amazing how good water is for your body. If you ask anyone that I know, I constantly have a water bottle on me {a filtered one at that if you have ever tried College Station tap water}. I should probably mention that I am a 21-year-old college student. On top of school, I have a job and I am involved in outside organizations. My schedule during the week is pretty hectic once school begins, so it is definitely going to be a challenge to complete this. My goal is to lose 25 pounds. I think this is an extremely attainable goal in three months. Knowing me, I am going to have to learn to wake up earlier because these hot Texas summer days would kick my booty if I chose to do anything outside during the day. Just be prepared for picture overload these next twelve weeks. If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions please feel free to post them. Also, please post about your own journeys to a healthy lifestyle during high stress times of your life. I know there will be setbacks and failures, but I think in the end, it will be an amazing accomplishment. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor. xo - Kellen!
