Postponement Planning

3/21/2020

Many of you have had to make the sacrifice of your wedding date to help ensure the safety of your loved ones during this unprecedented time. We know this isn't easy for anyone so we wanted to offer a few helpful tips on how to proceed with Postponement Planning. The video goes over these points in greater detail but the planning points are listed below:

1. Prepare - Don't Panic!  Allow time to process the situation and think about the new plan going forward.

2. Discuss the new date options with your venue and with all booked vendors - keeping the exact same vendor team will save money and be the easiest route. If original vendors are unavailable, begin the search for replacement vendors.

3. Create or update the wedding website with the new date + details and direct your guests there for more information. This will take pressure off of you to answer loads of questions during this time.

4. Identify how you will notify guests - via email, text, phone call, change the date cards - and allow immediate family + wedding party to help spread the word about the new date and to instruct guest to the wedding website for more info!

5. If invitations have already been sent or printed, you can simply send "change the date" cards {Peach Paper & Design is offering 20% off change the date cards with FREE addressing} to notify guests of the new date and a link to your wedding website.

6. Review your Wedding Planning Checklist and ensure all final planning toward the new date has been done.

7. If there is still some planning to be done, this is a really great chance to work on final details, get adjusted arrangements made for the new date and finalize day-of-details.

8. Celebrate on your original wedding day! Plan an amazing "night in" with takeout from your favorite local spot or a home cooked meal followed by a spin around the kitchen to your first dance song! Look toward the upcoming celebration with your loved ones and get excited about your new wedding date!

Above all, realize that we are all going through this together. The entire world is making life adjustments and we encourage you to work alongside the team you have hired for your wedding and trust they will do all that they can to help you through this process. We support you, we love you and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

With our busy lives and so many engagements to tend to before a wedding, many of our brides decide to forgo the southern tradition of a bridal session but just wait until you see the kind of magic that can come to life when you do! We always encourage a bridal session if it is possible - it is a great opportunity to try your dress on and see how it will feel wearing it for a few hours - are there places it might need to be taken in or let out, for example! It is also a great way to do a trial run of your hair + makeup with the artists you've selected for that service as well as getting an idea of your bridal bouquet to see what it will look and feel like!

We find that many of our brides who do take the time for the bridal session often have a few tweaks to their dress, their beauty service or their bouquet - sometimes all three need a little updating following the session! Getting comfortable with the camera and your photographer are also great benefits to a bridal session. You might find you are a little more relaxed on wedding day as you have practiced some of the "poses" you'll be asked to strike during your bridal session.

It doesn't happen often that you visit with a prospective client and things just immediately spark but the first time I spoke to Dallas, I knew that we were made for each other! I loved her classic design ideas, the fact that she wanted to host her closest family and friends at her family's farm and that keeping things casual and fun were her goals for wedding day. I knew we would make a great team to create some magic and we most certainly did!

Dallas and Ryan are a match that was truly made in Heaven and you will see that reflected in their wedding photos below. The beauty of the space, the incredible food, and the electric vibes from their band were all a very large part of the experience but their own chemistry was radiating so that each guest could feel it. We all felt their great energy and I left that day knowing that we had thrown an incredible celebration for what would be an outstanding marriage. The kind of marriage we all look to have. That same casual and fun vibe that we created for their wedding day would be carried over into their marriage, and THAT'S what it is all about.

Cheers to these two and their fantastic celebration and marriage!

Our very first wedding at The Gin was simply magnificent. Getting to spend the day with this couple, their incredible families and fun group of friends was an absolute joy. Elizabeth and her mom designed this wedding as a perfect complement to the industrial beauty of the historic space and the result was striking. It was simple yet sophisticated with cozy lounge spaces for guests to retreat for conversations and tons of design elements for them to admire from the appetizer displays to the bar - no stone was left unturned and the result was outstanding.

Keep an eye out for this gorgeous wedding featured in the Fall/Winter issue of The Knot Texas! Until then, get a first glance at all the beauty below....

We planned for what felt like forever... I didn't think the day we worked so hard toward would ever make it but it finally did and all of the magic came to life that day in November at that ranch in Texas. Steph+Alex will forever be one of my favorite couples and this, their first day of marriage, was delightful.

The rain came down in the days leading up to wedding day and, on the morning of the wedding we were fighting the cold, the wind, and the rain but we soldiered on and things came together beautifully. Stephanie+Alex's vision for a relaxed but refined hygge-inspired celebration was "to give courage, comfort, joy..." the true meaning of the Danish word.

It was important to them that their guests feel welcomed and cared for during their stay in Brenham, Texas at Alex's family ranch not only for the wedding day but for the "Welcome to Texas" dinner that they hosted the night before. A post-wedding brunch followed in Downtown Brenham before guests departed the charming little town.

All of the thoughtful details showed how much love the couple has not only for their guest but for each other. All of those details worked on together, as a team, is what I was so inspired by with this couple. Planning from Los Angeles, Stephanie+Alex only had a couple of in-person meetings with me here in Texas which meant most all of our meetings were via phone. The thing I will remember most is that those phone call meetings included them both - not just one - but both of them making decisions and providing input on their very special celebration. A celebration that I will not soon forget...
