If you're an Aggie, from Aggieland or have ever spent any amount of time here, you know how important football is to this town. As a College Station wedding planner, I know that it is best to avoid scheduling any type of event other than a tailgate on game day. Hotels charge 3-times their normal rates, often require a two-night minimum and it is almost impossible to block off a set of rooms because they are in such demand on game days. Not to mention that traffic that picks up, and it is downright crazy trying to get around town. That said, the TAMU game day schedule will help as a workaround for fall 2015 weddings here in Bryan/College Station. Away games are fine but if you have a heavy Aggie population in attendance at your wedding, they might be more into the game on their phones or sneaking off to the hotel bar to watch it rather than staying in the hotel ballroom for your reception. Be mindful of this when booking a date for a fall wedding in Aggieland. Another thing to consider are Parents' Weekends and TAMU Graduation Weekends. These are also dates to avoid due to high volume at hotels and peek rates for rooms. Have any questions or need more information about this topic? Contact us for more info!
