![]() Bridal portraits are one of our favorite southern wedding traditions here in Texas. Brides get all dolled up in their gowns a few weeks before the wedding and let their photographer capture all their beauty! Not all of our brides decide they want this as part of their wedding photos but those that do usually don't regret it! We have had brides ask us if a bridal portrait session is something they should add to their photography package and our answer is always, "yes"! Here's why: 1. It gives you an opportunity to slip in your dress for a couple of hours and see how it really fits - if it needs a little altering after you have had a chance to test it out at your bridal session, you still have time to get it just perfect before the big day! 2. It gives you an opportunity to test out your wedding hair and make-up and see how it will photograph. Typically you will schedule your bridal portrait hair and make-up appointments with the same professionals you will use on wedding day so you can do a trial run and tweak anything you need to so that make-up and hair are flawless when you say, "I do"! 3. It gives you an opportunity to get more comfortable with your photographer. After spending an hour or so with your photographer at a bridal session, you will likely feel far more at ease with him or her and know what to expect from them on wedding day. 4. It gives you some photos to showcase on wedding day. Let's face it, your guests, especially your female guests, are going to want to "ohh and ahh" over how gorgeous you look in your dress. Placing your bridal portraits up at your reception (yes, your reception, not ceremony - you don't want them to see you in the dress before your debut down the aisle!) will let your Aunt Sally see how you glow in that gown! 5. It gives you something to give as a gift to your parents. Although your parents may be the ones paying for the bridal portrait session, you can surprise them with a canvas print of your favorite photo to hang in their home! We realize that not all brides can afford to have a full-blown bridal portrait session with their photographer and that's okay! If it's not in the budget, have your photographer set aside some time for you in a "mini bridal session" on wedding day just before you head down the aisle! Photos via Mindi Rae Photography.
